Russia - New Zealand Facts
In 2008 at one stage New Zealand became the largest beef importer to the US. That happened because traditional suppliers of meat to the US such as Australian companies and domestic US companies switched to the Russian market which was paying more. Russia is the world’s major meat importer (nearly 60% of required demand annually). This will not change for the foreseeable future as domestic producers are not able to satisfy the emerging Russian market. No New Zealand efforts are being made to market high-quality New Zealand meat and meat products in Russia. |
